Mad Men isn’t my absolute favourite series, nevertheless I really enjoy watching it every now and then, mainly because of the wonderful retro fashion. Janie Bryant, the costume designer of Mad Men, did a great job and created absolutely authentic looks. Every film character is always perfectly styled from head to toe. The comfortable lilac swing dress by Voodoo Vixen reminds me pretty much of the early 60s style and could be right out Mad Men’s dressing room.

A lilac 60s inspired retro Dress

The soft colour, cute collar and beautiful back neckline make this dress a real head-turner. If you prefer a tighter fit, you maybe like this version more. To finish the look, I wore white accessories and a true vintage petticoat. I also replaced the lilac belt with a white vintage model.

By the way: We took the photos during our trip to Vienna. You will find a detailed blog post about this tour here. 😉

If you like the Mad Men style as much as I do, I recommend the book The Fashion File: Advice, Tips, and Inspiration from the Costume Designer of Mad Men by Bryant, Janie, Harel, Monica Corcoran.

  1. The dress is such a lovely colour, and perfect for spring. Needless to say, it’s perfect on you! I really like the white accessories – in fact I cannot imagine it without the white belt. Karen x

  2. You look gorgeous and the dress looks beautiful. I love the neckline, the fabric and the details! Everything except for the hem, I’d prefer it to be full circle 🙂 Maybe I’ll check out the pencil version as that one is absolutely adorable as well!

    1. Thank you dear!

I know what you mean! Normally I prefer a full circle skirt as well, but I think this dress is absolutely adorable.
Yes, the pencil version looks great! I’m sure this would look very beautiful on you.
