January and February don’t exactly have the best reputation. They’re often considered the least loved months of the year: too dark, too cold, too dull. But I think that reputation is terribly unfair. Winter has a magic all its own. I adore the calm and drowsy atmosphere these months bring with them. When else can you curl up on the sofa for hours with a good book and a cup of tea—completely guilt-free?
There’s nothing to do in the garden yet, the holidays are behind us, and if we’re lucky, the world outside is covered in a blanket of snow. Everything feels slower, quieter—and that’s exactly what I enjoy so much. Yes, winter really isn’t so bad after all.
That quiet elegance and sense of coziness is what I wanted to capture with today’s outfit: warmer than it looks, classic and timeless, yet still undeniably feminine.

How Even the Darkest Winter Days Can Feel Dreamy

Winter days are short and cold—but that doesn’t mean they can’t be beautiful. I make a point of getting some fresh air every day, even if it’s just for a short walk. On those rare sunny days, I’m more than happy to stay outside a little longer.
And yes, you can still look elegant while doing so. Thermal tights are absolutely essential for me in winter, paired with warm (wool) sweaters, sturdy boots, and, of course, a good coat. Add gloves and a hat, and you’re perfectly equipped for a winter stroll.

Afterwards, there’s nothing I love more than warming up with a steaming cup of black tea, a splash of milk, and a pinch of sugar to soften the bitterness—pure bliss.

Long winter evenings are mostly reserved for reading. If you’re still looking for atmospheric winter reads and don’t mind a touch of magic, I can wholeheartedly recommend Katherine Arden’s Winternight Trilogy.
In the Winternight Trilogy, Katherine Arden transports us to a snow-covered, fairy-tale Russia where old gods and spirits still linger in the shadows of the forests. At the heart of the story is young Vasya, who can see this magical world and must stand her ground against rigid traditions, religious fanaticism, and an encroaching darkness. Amid biting frost, flickering candlelight, and ancient legends unfolds a tale of self-determination, courage, and the fragile balance between belief and forgetting. A deeply atmospheric winter fairy tale that feels like a long night spent by the fireside.
