Gift ideas for book lovers for Christmas, birthdays & co.
Of course, you can always give a book lover a book. The big problem: I don’t know every friend’s exact taste in books and, more importantly, I really have no idea which ones they’ve already read. So here are 10 gift ideas for book lovers that aren’t books. 😉
Bookshelf Lights: A Little Glow for Book Lovers

I stumbled across these stylish little bookshelf lanterns and, of course, had to get some straight away. You simply tuck them between two books, and they run on batteries. They create such a lovely atmosphere and make my fantasy section look even more mysterious. I think these lights are a wonderful gift idea for book lovers. By the way, you can choose between just the lanterns or a version with a little reading ghost, too. 😉

Book Nook Kits: Miniature Worlds for Your Bookshelf
Book nooks are little miniature worlds inside a box. Many come as kits you can put together yourself, then tuck between the books on your shelf without taking up much space. If you’re into minimalism, they might not be your thing. I’m a maximalist, though, and I love details like these. That makes book nooks a lovely gift for book lovers who enjoy a bit of whimsical decor.

Bookends come in all sorts of styles, from minimalist and modern to something straight out of a fairy tale. They’re another lovely gift idea for book lovers. Just keep the recipient’s personal style in mind. Not everyone necessarily wants dragon bookends (although, honestly, who doesn’t want dragon bookends?? ;-)).

A Gift for Book Lovers: A Book Journal or Reading Diary

If you read a lot, it’s easy to forget what fascinated you about a particular book, or what you perhaps didn’t like quite so much. That’s why I personally love my book journal. I jot down notes as I read, and when I have the time and feel like it, I decorate the pages with stickers and my own drawings. A lovely reading journal therefore makes a great gift for any bookworm.

Reading Journal Stickers: Little Gifts for Bookworms
I love stickers at least as much as my little daughter does. There are bookish stickers for all sorts of genres, whether you’re into fantasy, thrillers or romance. You can use them to decorate your reading journal, your e-reader and all sorts of other things. They also make a lovely little extra to go with a bigger gift, such as a book or a reading journal.

An E-Reader: A Whole Library to Take Along

If you have a little more to spend, an e-reader can make a great gift, as long as you’re sure the person you’re buying it for would actually enjoy using one. As much as I love physical books, I can’t deny how practical an e-reader is. Especially on holiday or when you’re out and about, you can take a whole library along without needing much space at all. If yours has a built-in light, you can even read comfortably in the dark. I’ve been very happy with my Kindle for many years, but of course there are other brands, too.

A Book Light for Bedtime: Keep Reading When Everyone Else Is Asleep
Is there anything nicer than reading a few pages in bed before going to sleep? It only gets tricky when the person next to you wants to sleep already, but you still need some light. A little reading light that clips onto your book or sits around your neck can help. It lights up the pages, so you don’t have to illuminate the whole bedroom. A great gift idea for any bookworm!

They look lovely in a reading corner, of course, but also make a pretty addition to a table or windowsill.

A Book Sleeve: Keep Your Favourite Books Safe on the Go
You know how it goes: you want to take your beloved book along, pop it into your bag and later discover that it’s picked up a few little bumps and battered corners. A book sleeve (for example, from Etsy*) helps protect it and looks beautiful, too.
