The best retro pool party of the summer!
Summer is already in the starting blocks, which means outdoor festivities are finally back! And when we talk about summer outdoor parties, the first thing that comes to my mind is a cool pool party! Because let’s be honest: who doesn’t love pool parties? For me, of course, it has to be a retro pool party.
How to make your retro poolparty a hit
In this article I’ll tell you how you can throw a super cool and unforgettable retro pool party, even if you don’t have your own pool in the garden.
Retro style invitation
Let’s start planning the party. When was the last time you got a real invitation card? Maybe it’s been a while, but there’s something to it, don’t you think? That’s why I recommend sending an invitation in a cool retro design for your unforgettable retro pool party. Bold colors and retro patterns fit perfectly. Of course, you can also design a card and then send it in a very modern way via a messenger. 😉
The pool for your retro party
For a pool party, of course, we first need a pool. Certainly not everyone has this in their garden. It does not matter anyway. Round pools that can be set up quickly and easily are available on Amazon*, for example. Alternatively, you can simply set up a few paddling pools. You’ll see that after a few drinks the size of the pool doesn’t matter much anymore, as long as it’s wet. 😉

Retro decoration for your poolparty
We have clarified the pool question, let’s move on to the stylish decoration. Towels in a retro look, striped air mattresses, vintage-style swimming rings, colorful parasols and classic beach balls ensure one cool and nostalgic atmosphere. Cozy retro loungers and perhaps even a classic Hollywood swing bring stylish coziness into play.

The dresscode for the retro poolparty
Of course, a retro pool party demands a retro dress code. Retro swimwear (e.g. via TopVintage*), cool vintage-style shorts, Hawaiian shirts (e.g. from Frozen Hibiscus via Etsy*) and retro sunglasses are a perfect choice.

The Playlist
Of course we play oldies at a retro pool party! The Beatles or The Beach Boys, for example, are always a great choice and put you in a good mood. We most likely are going to play our playlist from very modern streaming providers – but we can use nostalgic-looking Bluetooth speakers. 🙂

Delicious food & refreshing drinks
Delicious snacks and refreshing drinks are of course a must at a cool party. How about mini burgers, tomato and mozzarella snacks and delicious cake? My tip for authentic dishes: browse through grandma’s old cookbooks. Retro cool boxes (e.g. via Westwing*) are great for keeping snacks cool in style.
The drinks are of course served in colorful retro glasses. Tip: Glasses with lids and straws are very practical at pool parties, as they prevent your guests from accidentally tipping the drink into the pool. 😉

As a memory: photos
A photo booth with retro pool props ensures that both guests and you can capture fun memories. Cat-eye sunglasses, inflatable guitars and colorful wigs make for unforgettable snapshots. A great alternative in retro style: set out a few instant cameras and let the guests take photos with them.
