An elegant outfit doesn’t have to be overdressed or uncomfortable, as this 40s inspired look proves. The combination of a red skirt and light blouse by The House Of Foxy is perfect for everyday life.

A elegant 40s inspired Look for every day

Tight pencil skirts can be quite uncomfy, especially if one has to move a lot, while big circle skirts might be a bit unpractical in everyday life as they always need a lot of space. A classy swing skirt is the perfect alternative. The pretty red one by The House Of Foxy is one of my most worn pieces, since it can be teamed with both, simple and very glamorous pieces.

White blouses are real allrounder and go well with almost every skirt. I already showed you the one with a bow at the collar in a 30s inspired combination. This time, however, it was a bit cold so I decided to wear a cardigan on top. A leather jacket makes the look a bit more modern.

Black fishnet tights by Chantal Thomass help to hold ones legs warm, while the Moss Garden Heels by Banned finish the 40s inspired vintage outfit.

Quick and chic: A pretty 40s inspired Makeup

Such a simple and elegant look doesn’t need a lot of makeup. On my eyelids I’m wearing a nude coloured eyeshadow from the Dior Eye Reviver Palette, for my lashes I applied the Le Volume de Chanel Mascara. I used a bit of eyebrow powder and applied blush for fresher look. To finish the 40s inspired makeup, I applied the Mac Ultimate Lipstick in “Dangerously Chic”.

As most of the time, I’m wearing my hair in a big bun. For this I use a huge hair donut and lots of pins.

  1. There is SO much to love about this outfit. I know what you mean about skirts even being too tight or too big for everyday wear, but this looks just perfect, and the photos so skilfully capture how it moves on you. I’ve probably said before that I adore black and red in any case, but there’s something special here. It won’t surprise you that I adore your tights, not least how the seam detail works with the trim on your cardigan. I really, really like fishnets and there are plenty in my collection – so comfortable and, as here they give a look that’s somehow lighter than sheer black, even though in the photos you cannot see they are net. I keep reading that fishnets are coming back in – well, for me they’ve never gone anywhere! Oh, and before I forget, I want those shoes, which are also great with this outfit! All round loveliness… Have a great weekend! K xx PS. I know this is a late comment but I wrote it first when your comments weren’t working – call me mad, but I kept the comment saved for when I was able to post it!!

    1. Thank you so much, Karen!
I really appreciate your lovely comments and am so flattered that you saved this one!
This is one of my favourite outfits at the moment, I wear it almost every day. 😉
Oh, and it is so great that fishnets are coming back which means it will be easier to get some.

I hope you are having a lovely week!

    1. Vielen Dank liebe Nicole!
Ich habe in letzter Zeit großen Gefallen an einem etwas dezenterem Make-up gefunden. 😉
Und natürlich freue ich mich, wenn ich Dich mit meinem Outfit inspirieren konnte.

      Ganz liebe Grüße,
      Sandra <3
