To be honest, I’m not very talented when it comes to DIY. Therefore I normally buy my Christmas decoration. This year, however, I had problems to find something suitable for both, my flat and my bank balance. So I decided to buy only separates and create something by myself. In this DIY post I show you with what I came up and how you can do it by yourself.
1. DIY Christmas Decoration:Â What you need
You don’t need a lot of things to make a beautiful Christmas decoration. Here is a list with all the products I used:
- a slate (at least 15 x 15 cm)
- a drip mat in shape of a snowflake
- a candle in your favourite colour
- two little stars
- three small Christmas tree balls in different colours
- cones or something similar
- hot glue gun
- old newspapers to protect your table
- hot punch, gingerbread, and Christmas songs for Christmas feeling
2. DIY Christmas Decoration:Â Step by Step Instruction
First of all, think about how you want to arrange the different things on the slate and try different possibilities.
When you are happy with the result, start with sticking the drip mat to the slate with the help of the hot glue gun. This is where the candle will be placed later. Afterwards, stick the different separates to the slate as well. Put the glue onto the different things, stick it to slate, press it on, and always take care of your fingers.
Finally, put the candle on top of the drip mat – that’s it. Since I don’t move this arrangement, I don’t have to stick the candle. If you like to gift it to someone, I recommend to replace the drip mat with a special candleholder.
As you can see, this is a super easy way to create your own Christmas decoration. Since silver and pastels match best with the rest of my interior, I decided to stick to this colour palette. But of course you can play around with different shades like golds or reds. Evergreens look very beautiful as well. Be creative and figure out what you like most.
And now have fun crafting your own Christmas decoration!
