Walks through misty autumn fields and golden forests glowing in warm shades of amber and crimson. Rainy afternoons that smell of tea, old books, and nostalgia. Bundles of herbs drying from wooden beams while leaves dance outside. And of course: pumpkins in every shape and size. October has always been one of my favorite months – calm, powerful, and wrapped in mystery. I soak up every last ray of sunshine and color, storing warmth for the long winter ahead.

And then there’s Halloween – that one night when even the wind whispers differently, and the world seems to breathe a hint of magic. ✨

A Halloween Outfit That Works All Autumn Long

RetroCat in a linen dress by Son de Flor at the dance - perfect for autumn

When it comes to Halloween fashion, I prefer not to buy a new costume every year. Instead, I transform what’s already in my wardrobe — adding a few witchy accessories to create an elegant, magical twist.

The base of this year’s look is the enchanting Diane Dress by Son de Flor*. Its deep grape hue is pure autumn perfection, and the timeless, fairytale silhouette makes it ideal for both everyday wear and special occasions. The linen fabric feels soft yet structured — perfect for walks through crunchy leaves or cozy evenings by candlelight.

With delicate nylons from Secrets in Lace and vintage-inspired jewelry from FleurIsCoeur, it becomes a feminine, elegant outfit that easily works beyond Halloween.

For October 31st, I simply add my witch hat by ZaliaBerlin – and just like that, a touch of everyday magic appears.

Season of the Witch – Book Recommendations for Cozy Autumn Nights

When the rain taps against the windows and the tea steams gently in your hands, it’s the perfect time to lose yourself in witchy reads full of magic and mystery. Here are my favorite autumn books for the darker months of the year:

A Dark and Secret Magic – perfect for stormy fall nights

Step into a world of spells, secrets, and shadowy adventures. The atmosphere captures autumn like no other book. Best enjoyed under a blanket with a cup of tea and candlelight flickering nearby.

Rewitched – a cozy autumn read

Witches, a bookshop, a dash of romance, and plenty of charm. This story about Belladonna Blackthorne trying to save her magic in 30 days is the perfect comfort read for golden evenings.

The All Souls Trilogy – Deborah Harkness

Historian and reluctant witch Diana Bishop discovers a bewitched manuscript in Oxford’s Bodleian Library — and with it, the mysterious vampire Matthew Clairmont. This trilogy (A Discovery of Witches, Shadow of Night, The Book of Life) blends magic, science, and romance in the most enchanting way.

Magical Witchy Series for Long Autumn Evenings

When the nights grow longer and the rain patters softly outside, nothing beats curling up with a witchy TV show. Here are a few tips:

A Discovery of Witches

Based on Deborah Harkness’s All Souls Trilogy: a breathtaking mix of magic, dark academia, and timeless romance between witch and vampire. Beautifully filmed, atmospheric, and ideal for autumn nights.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

Dark, stylish, and slightly twisted — this modern take on Sabrina is perfect for fans of occult aesthetics, vintage fashion, and a touch of dark humor.

Salem

Mysterious and intense, this series reimagines the Salem witch trials with a supernatural twist. Best watched by candlelight for maximum effect.
