Colorful leaves on streets and pathways, autumn storms, and cozy evenings – October is THE autumn month, and it was truly wonderful. We even went on a short trip and spent the rest of the time simply soaking in the golden season.
As always, I’m happy to share everything that happened this month in my little monthly roundup.
What I did:

October is such a wonderfully cozy month. There are still a few gardening tasks left to prepare the beds for winter, but overall the workload has eased noticeably. Instead, we enjoyed long autumn walks, quiet evenings with books, and a short getaway to South Tyrol.
A Fall Getaway to South Tyrol

South Tyrol in autumn is unbelievably beautiful. The journey alone through the Alps glowing in every shade of fall is breathtaking. We stayed at Hotel Ideal Park in Laives (not an ad, just a recommendation). It’s close to Bolzano, modern and really lovely. I usually adore hotels with vintage charm, but for a family trip, a modern hotel with an indoor pool, outdoor pools, and a great buffet is just perfect.
From the hotel, we took two lovely excursions – one to the Raffeiner Orchid World with its tropical greenhouse, which is perfect for kids, and the other to nearby Bolzano. Bolzano is a gorgeous Alpine town with great shopping and so much to see.
Back home, we baked pumpkin cake (you have to try the recipe from “einfach backen” – it was so delicious) and slowly got into the Halloween spirit.
What I wore

October was very autumnal, especially temperature-wise. So I mostly wore long-sleeved dresses and warm tights. Lately, I’ve been loving the Dark Academia style – so I’ve also been wearing shorter plaid skirts paired with opaque tights here and there.

What I ate:
I ate a lot of pumpkin this month – in every possible variation. Pumpkin soup, the pumpkin cake I mentioned, pumpkin orzo, and more.
What I Watched and Read
In October, I’m always fully in autumn mode, which means I love reading witch and vampire stories even more than usual. That’s why I read the entire All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness. Funny how I had never really paid attention to these books before.
I actually enjoyed them a lot! And for anyone who prefers watching a series instead of reading – there’s a TV adaptation called A Discovery of Witches.
It’s also our tradition to watch Hocus Pocus and Hocus Pocus 2 around Halloween.

My Mood Board for November
Lantern parades, the first Christmas lights, gingerbread, and mulled punch – even though I’m a little sad October is already over, I’m really looking forward to November.
