Is there something better than a relaxed movie night at home, especially during the cold season? I don’t think so. The only problem is, the (German) TV programme can be quite boring, so Amazon Prime and Netflix are my best friends. Of course, I especially like series and movies taking place in past, and the good thing is, there are a lot of such movies available! So in this blogpost, I give you an overview of all the retro and vintage movies on Amazon Prime and Netflix I know. Thereby, I mainly focus on modern productions taking place in the first half of the 20th century (with a few exceptions).

My aim with this article is to create a kind of timeline, chronologically sorted by the time in which the action of the movies take place. Therefore, it should be easier for you to pick the ones from the era you like most. Or you start a movie marathon and go on a travel through time on your sofa. 😉 So let’s start with the historical movies.
