Late summer is always a time when I’m never quite sure what to wear. On one hand, I’m already in an autumnal mood and really excited about fall fashion again; on the other side, it’s often still very warm, and I can’t quite bring myself to part with my summer looks just yet. That’s why I’ve found the perfect compromise: dark floral dresses! They feel much less summery than other floral dresses, yet they don’t feel completely autumnal or wintry either. 😉

Dark floral dress for Late Summer and Early Fall

Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.
Miranda Priestley in The Devil wears Prada
Who doesn’t remember those iconic words? Well, I find that late-summer flowers are far less obvious in that regard—don’t you agree? Especially when they are vibrant set against a dark background. That’s when they stop looking merely cute and demure, but becoming mysterious and highly alluring instead.
Since roses are my favorite flowers, I naturally love having them on my dresses best. But of course, other flowers work too—it’s entirely up to your taste.

To complete the look, I recommend dark stockings—ideally with a back seam. That makes the look even more alluring. Paired with lovely black shoes and a matching handbag, the outfit instantly becomes a real head-turner for late summer.

Why I’ve posted so little about outfits lately

Admittedly, I’ve created very few new outfit posts lately—simply because I buy almost all my clothes second-hand. That saves money and is more sustainable, but it often means I can’t actually link to the specific items I’m wearing and have to resort to similar products instead. BUT: It would have been a real shame to keep this lovely rose-print dress from Wheels & Dollbaby all to myself! So I thought, “Why not?” and decided to share it anyway. 😉
My tip: You can often find lovely clothes from Wheels & Dollbaby (and, of course, many other brands) on sites like Vinted or eBay*.
