I love nylons, elegant dresses and chic accessories. But when one heatwave follows another, as it has this year, I find myself reaching for outfits that keep me cool, feel relaxed and still look put-together.
Along with linen dresses, I practically live in short summer skirts and T-shirts at the moment. It’s such an easy combination for hot days – and one that works just as well for a trip to the playground or a visit to a café as it does for a little getaway to my former hometown of Munich. 😉

Summer Skirts & Classic T-Shirts

Sometimes the simplest outfits really are the best. My blue-and-white striped Piccolina Skirt by Lena Hoschek, for example, is wonderfully uncomplicated, incredibly easy to style and simply looks like summer.

You can pair a summer skirt like this with blouses and tops, of course, but a classic white T-shirt works just as beautifully. That’s what I went for this time. If you had told me four years ago that white T-shirts would one day be among my favourite wardrobe staples, I probably would have smiled politely and moved on. But here we are – I’m now a huge fan. Paired with a retro skirt, they look wonderfully fresh, effortless and summery. They’re also incredibly practical for everyday life with a child in tow – and, most importantly, comfortable. You can climb around the playground, move freely and never have to worry about anything slipping out of place, haha. 😉 For an extra little dose of summer, I chose a white T-shirt with a citrus print.

When temperatures really start to rise, I like to keep my accessories simple too. Sunglasses are obviously a must, then I add ballet flats or sandals and a handbag – and that’s it.
I usually wear my hair in a ponytail on hot days, which helps me stay a little cooler. My secret weapon is a clip-in ponytail hair extension. It instantly makes my ponytail look much fuller and turns an otherwise simple hairstyle into something a little more special.
And the best part? It takes less than three minutes to do. Exactly the kind of effortless styling I love on hot summer days.
