We all know this problem: We have a closet full of beautiful clothes but nothing to wear. If I don’t know what to wear, I normally choose basics. Some of the key pieces of my wardrobe are beautiful skirts and simple sweaters which are easy to team with fancy accessories.
The Madison High Waist Skirt by Dolly and Dotty
The Madison High Waist Skirts by Dolly and Dotty is one of those basics. I especially like the cut: down to the knees it’s looks very classy while asymmetric ruffles at the hemline add that certain something to the skirt. The black and white stripes make the skirt a real head-turner but still go well with almost every single-coloured top.
I teamed the Madison Skirt with a simple black turtleneck, which I already showed you here. A white belt enhances the waist while red pumps add a pop of colour to the retro outfit. Of course classy black pumps also work really well.
Thin hold-ups by Wolford keep my legs warm. As I already told you in this blog post, the ones by Wolford are great as they stay in place even when you are moving and are therefore an alternative for stockings or tights.
A handmade Kitty Bag
The most beautiful accessory of this retro look, however, is my cat handbag. It was a gift from my parents, they bought the bag at a small manufactory in France. As you can imagine from my blog’s name “RetroCat” I’m obsessed with cats and buy everything with kittys on it just like this umbrella or the “What’s New Pussycat” ensemble by Grünten Mode. 😉
A natural retro Makeup for every Day
If I don’t have enough time to do a full makeup, I normally skip the most time consuming steps. In my case, those are the eyeliner and a perfect lipstick.
Instead of a normal foundation I use the CC Cream by Chanel and a little bit of powder. On my eye lids I apply a natural eyeshadow from the Dior Eye Reviver Palette. Afterwards I use lots of mascara and do my eyebrows. A bit of blush makes your face look fresher. If I’m in a hurry, I skip lipliner and lipstick and use the Dior Addict Fluid Stick in “Wonderland” instead. You can apply this gloss easily with your fingers for a natural but seductive look.
