Retro shorts for summer: Shopping and styling tips
Summer time is time for shorts! At least in my opinion. 🙂 While I usually prefer knee-length skirts and dresses, there are occasions, when trousers are simply more practical. One example is whenever I am riding my bike. Flared skirts and dresses not only tend to fly high in the air, but can also get tangled up by the spokes of the bike. This in not only risky for your health, but also for the skirt. In this case, shorts are definitely a better option! They are still light and cool, but don’t expose your underwear and are definitely less dangerous when riding a bike. And the best: They are even available in a super cool retro look! So in the following, I am going to show you my favourite shorts for summer, and tell you how to style them.
Cheeky retro Shorts for Summer
Retro shorts are available in a lot of different shapes and colours! What about a high-waist pair of flared, 1940s inspired shorts*? Or maybe a classy pair of high-waist 50s style shorts*? Short playsuits*, by the way, are an especially cool option for hot summer days.
TopVintage*, for example, offers a great variety of lovely retro style shorts. And I also found some more super cool ones:

How to style retro Shorts
No matter if you want to wear them on a day at the beach or a city trip, summery retro shorts are always a great choice when the temperatures are high and you have some spare time. In the following, I am going to show you some different outfit ideas for different occasions.
Perfect for the City and the Beach: Retro shorts inspired by the 1940s
Even Rita Hayworth wore some cool high-waist shorts with flared legs. I like this style, too, and team these kind of trousers with blouses or subtle tops. Depending on the accessories, this outfit is appropriate for the beach as well as the city.

Perfect for the City: Retro Shorts and a chic Blouse
Shorts often look quite casual. If you prefer a more elegant look, I recommend to go for a high-waist pair of shorts with some lovely details, and team them with a chic blouse. Maybe one with some lovely polka-dots or another print? Now, the only things you need are some summery accessories as well as pretty shoes and you are ready to go out for a shopping trip or to meet friends at a café, for example.
