An extraordinary all black retro outfit inspired by Dior’s New Look
As many others, I spend a lot of time at home, currently. This is why I indulge in reading many of favourite fashion books. I especially enjoy the books about Dior, at the moment. With a lot of new inspiration, I wanted to finally dress up again, although I don’t have any occasions to do so. But that’s not really a problem for me. I met a dear friend (definitely have a look at her Instagram account @karolinesk_studio), and we took some photos of our outfits. Voila, here it is my fancy couture outfit inspired by Dior’s New Look.

Couture Outfit: The Jacket
With his amazing Bar Suit, Christian Dior created a real classic! Especially the Bar jacket is such a timeless piece of art and is still wearable. You will also find some other lovely peplum blazers and jackets inspired by his style, by the way.
A versatile Classic: The midi Skirt
I team my peplum blazer with a wonderful black vintage midi skirt. I believe, an elegant, high-quality midi skirt is a great investment and definitely one of my must haves. These kind of skirts can be styled with many different tops and look always very elegant. PS: Of course your midi skirt doesn’t have to be black, but black is especially easy to style. 😉
Tip: For an authentic retro silhouette, I recommend to wear a petticoat underneath your skirt.
A fancy Fascinator
To create a very extraordinary, super elegant outfit, a fancy hat or fascinator is a must. It literally crowns the look and is a real head-turner.
An extraordinary all black Retro Outfit: The matching Accessories
Last but not least, let’t talk about accessories. Such an extraordinary outfit doesn’t require a lot of jewellery or other accessories. However, I like to wear a few special pieces. When wearing a midi skirt, I always recommend to wear it with high heels, so your legs look longer. I also like to wear seamed stockings or tights with such a 50s inspired outfit. And if you like, you can add some lovely pearls to finish your look.
